take us higher

they live in an apparently perfect world. instagrammable, ridiculously beautiful, higher up than all the other kids. but they are not that different from other young people, they want to experience the same things and take the same photos of themselves.

in my paintings i try to combine their instagram pictures with my own mountain photos. similar to a jigsaw puzzle, putting together what doesn’t really want to fit. while painting, i adopt the common tile aesthetic of websites and apps, which divides the world into an infinite number of small, pretty squares.
